There are only two ways that a human may live out their experience on this plane: we are either unconscious actors unknowingly playing out habitual patterns in our lives or we are masterful creators actively and consciously participating in the unfolding of our journey. Power is the difference.
Power is available to every person in every moment. We just must know how to connect with, manage, and utilize it.
Based in the traditional teachings of Shamanism but adapted to the realities and psychological needs of modernity, The Rites of Power is a formal 12-month apprenticeship in this essential, spirit-awakening/life-changing work.
But what is ‘Power’?
Modern life often speaks of power as manipulative methods of control, influence, dominance, and subjugation.
While this type of power is very real in human communities, this is not the type of power we are seeking here, nor the kind of power we bother ourselves with at all on this path. This ‘false’ power claimed without ‘real’ power is a distortion of the laws of spirit (though entirely and utterly human to seek), and undeserving of our attention until real power has been regained and we may attend to it more effectively.
Real power is an organic consequence of connection, alignment, consciousness training, and medicine work.
Real power only amplifies the power of others, seeks to contribute beautifully to the world, and allows an individual to understand their unique role within the grand system of life. Real power can be abused, certainly (in sorcery), but, again, that is not the path here. This power seeks to contribute to the healing of the world and to enhance the beauty, goodness, truth, and possibility of each moment.
Real power does not corrupt.
Real power connects, clarifies, and coordinates.

Hey there, I’m Ciel.
I am a Traditionally-Initiated Shamanic Practitioner and Integrative Psychotherapist with 16 years of formal study and mentorship in healing lineages emergent from Aymara, Tibetan, Lakota, and Haida traditions.
I am called an ‘Ilpho’ in the tradition of my primary teacher—a spirit of the trees. I carry medicine to support the reconnection with power for everyone I work with, allowing individuals to heal, to understand their own medicine and wisdom, and to remember their belonging within all that is. Beyond my traditional training, I also hold two Master’s degrees--in Integrative Healing + Clinical Counselling-- and seamlessly bridge these modern, scientific approaches with the traditional teachings and practices I have been so fortunate to receive. I have also been trained in many other healing modalities, which you can read about here.
I am an articulate, enthusiastic, and, at times, slightly irreverent/coyote teacher. I recognize both the immense gravity of the human process and evolution and the essential importance of not taking ourselves too seriously, and that no path can be the right path if it loses humor, beauty, and awe. I know there is incredible and necessary medicine in each of us, and that it is my path and practice to help draw forth what is latent within.

As opposed to other informational programs or practices, this program is a comprehensive summary of the core traditional teachings related to cultivating, preserving, and utilizing personal power, delivered in a direct transmission model. This is:

The Rites of Power will include significant personal reflection, group process and practice, and applied learning outside of session content.
This program, like traditional medicine apprenticeships, will ask a lot of you. However, it will also deliver wildly more than what is asked should you commit yourself to the work and experience.
The Rites of Power:
Connected to the intelligence + mastery of nature, each Rite focuses on the expression of particular capacities in you, and will provide both “secret” (lineage-based) and modern teachings, practice, and reflection to powerfully anchor those capacities in your being.
Each Rite is guided by 4 unique 'Laws’ to summarize the essential teachings. One Rite and 4 Laws per month.

How it Works
Each seminar will be approximately 1 hour long, once per week, followed by an hour-long Q&A for participants halfway through the week.
As well, there will be 24 recorded meditations/journeys released to support rites on particular weeks.
If you are seeking a more immersive experience and more comprehensive support on your journey, a limited number of participants may also join the Advanced Mastery level, where you will receive 2 hour-long personal sessions with Ciel during the program, and 2 additional Advanced Practice seminars. This option is recommended only for practitioners or those with considerable experience in spiritual/shamanic practice, and who are serious about deepening their mastery.

What exactly is a 'rite of power'?
A rite of power is a traditional teaching that helps you access and embody different aspects of your natural spiritual abilities, and is connected to a fundamental intelligence found in the world around us. Each rite builds upon the last, creating a complete system for accessing and working with personal power in ways that have been tested across generations.
I'm new to spiritual work. Is this too advanced for me?
Not at all. This apprenticeship is designed to meet you exactly where you are. While some participants may have previous experience, the program is structured to be accessible to beginners while still providing depth for those with more experience. What matters most is your willingness to learn and engage.
How much time do I need to commit each week?
Plan for about 2-3 hours per week for core teachings and practices, plus additional time for integration in your daily life. The beauty of this work is that it becomes part of your life rather than another item on your to-do list.
What if I miss a live session?
All sessions are recorded and available for replay. While live participation is encouraged for group energy and direct interaction, we understand that life happens, and that the content of this program is immense—you’ll probably want to review it! You'll have access to all materials for as long as you are a member of The Threshold Society.
Do I need any special equipment or supplies?
Most practices require only your presence and attention. We'll suggest some basic items for altar-building and ceremony, but these are flexible and can be adapted to what you have available.

I'm worried about opening up to spiritual experiences. Is this safe?
Safety is paramount in this work. You'll learn proper protection practices, grounding techniques, and boundaries. We move at a pace that allows for integration, and you're always in control of how deeply you engage with any practice.
What if I'm not 'powerful enough' or 'spiritual enough'?
Remember: we're not learning new skills but remembering what's already within you. Your power is your birthright - it's not about being 'enough' but about removing the blocks to what's naturally yours.
How is this different from other spiritual programs?
